The event was jointly organized by IT Department, General Department of Logistics and Technology - Ministry of Public Security (MoPS), Vietnam Computer Emergency Response (VNCERT), Ministry of Information and Communications and International Data Group (IDG Vietnam).
2010 was marked with the rapid development of technology, especially the expanding of cloud computing services, mobile office and social network. It is forecasted that in the year of 2011, these services would gain great process to create new trends for information technology sector, but also implies new implicit threats for information security.
In Vietnam, many business enterprises have also faced with the foundation and spread of many new variants of virus, cyber attacks are boomed with both mercenary and economic purpose; even making influence on national security and business activity. National websites are continuously attacked with increasing sophistication, and typically is the example of Vietnamnet website to be totally attacked on November 22, 2010 by hackers; internet crime via Vietnamese emails is increasingly spreading, setting out a requirement for right perception of important role of network security, information security.
Following VNISA investigation report, Vietnam ranked 5th in 10 countries with the highest risk of losing information security in 2010.
Mr. Nguyen Viet The, Director of IT Department, General Department of Logistics and Technology said: "Information security keeps a vital role with business enterprises, especially when online transactions become more and more popular in Vietnam. In my opinion, instead of chopping the budget to security , we should invest in it more wisely".
After 5 successful events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, the 6th Security World will focus on introducing effective security solutions, sensible investment to help businesses and organizations to optimize benefits from security investments, to wait in front for new technology and security trends, with experience from experts and leading technology corporations.
Facing to this situation, Vietnam is making new policies, new directions actively to promote the development of information technology in general and security in particular. According to Dr. Vu Quoc Khanh, Director of VNCERT: "2011 is the first year to develop ideas, plans and programs in National Digital information security project, information security activities in important projects, investment, training and improving information security competence, investing in management processes, deal with incidents, value information security in this field".
Panel Discussion: "Information Security: Cyber threats in a connected world and solutions" with the participation of leaders from information security agencies and leading experts will discuss about high - tech crime trends, case study of insecure information and the its consequences; the response solutions: perspective from the technology, awareness, standard, policies and legal framework.
