99 lives died from traffic accidents in four holidays

As many as 99 people died from traffic accidents nationwide including 189 road accidents that killed 95 people and four railway accidents killed four during the four holidays (April 30-May 5).

According to the National Committee for Traffic Safety, on May 3 alone, the country witnessed 59 cases, claiming 26 fatalities and 39 injuries, mainly road accidents.

The same day, traffic police handled nearly 5,224 traffic law violation cases, collecting total administrative fines of VND1.469 billion and detaining 13 cars and 1,327 motorbikes. 

After 4 days of dealing with traffic law violations, traffic police contributed a total of VND17 billion to the State budget and temporarily seized 68 cars and 5,171 motorcycles.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested the Ministry of Public Health to ensure sufficient medical workers to give first aid and timely treatment to traffic accident-related patients.
