The regulation setting the maximum speed at 90 km/h applies to private cars, vehicles carrying up to 30 passengers (excluding buses), and trucks with a load capacity of up to 3.5 tons.
Vietnam has set a target of 3,000 kilometers of highways by 2025 and 5,000 kilometers by 2030.
The construction phase is set to start on December 31, 2022.
The Eastern North-South expressway project is of national priority, for which an acceleration in construction progress should not undermine the quality of the project.
The project is of national priority receiving special attention from the Party, National Assembly, the Government, and the public.
Expressways remain a key factor to boost socio-economic development in different economic zones.
The project once completed would help relieve traffic jams in Hanoi’s metropolitan areas and bolster connectivity between provinces/cities in the Northern Delta region.
The total length of the project is estimated at 729 kilometers, divided into 12 sub-projects, and financed by public funds.
Once completed in 2025, the Government would start collecting fees to recover part of its investment capital.
