Activities held to celebrate Vietnam Entrepreneurs' Day in Hanoi

Many individuals and businesses are honored on the occasion.

Multiple meetings and events have been held this week in Hanoi to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day.

The local government of Son Tay Town on October 12 organized a festivity that honored 23 individuals and units for their outstanding performances in 2023.

Son Tay is home to more than 900 enterprises and cooperatives operating in a wide range of sectors. In the town’s economic structure, industrials and construction account for 41%, and services account for nearly 50%.

In January-September, local businesses earned an estimate of VND10 trillion ($409 million) in total revenue, paid some VND100 billion ($4.1 million) worth of taxes to the State budget, and employed more than 10,000 workers with wages ranging from VND6 million ($245.30) to VND9 million ($368) per month.

The business and entrepreneur communities are the cores of the society, said Son Tay Town Party Committee’s Secretary Tran Anh Tuan, as they produce materials and end products for the market, create jobs and lower the unemployment rate.

“They hold the heart of the socio-economic growth. Their performances are key for the national defense security,” the secretary said. “There are now both opportunities and challenges.”

He called for greater efforts from local companies and businessmen, urging them to remain creative and resilient, improve the quality of corporate governance and operations, and unite with each other to found an immense power and beat all obstacles.

Secretary Anh also urged local authorities to ease the conditions for the enterprises so that they will expand operations and soon achieve sustainable development.

“I hope that all businesses and entrepreneurs will continue to advise Son Tay Town government with your ideas and groundbreaking activities, to foster the town’s growth in the future.”

In Bac Tu Liem District, 19 companies and nine entrepreneurs were handed merits for their contribution to the district’s socio-economic development, especially in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

As of the end of September 2023, Bac Tu Liem had more than 8,200 activating businesses, up by some 1,000 on-year. Tax collection from these companies in January-September was VND876 billion ($35.8 million).

In two years 2022 and 2023, these companies paid a total of VND2.4 trillion ($98 million) to the State budget.

In 2019-2021, local enterprises and individuals donated a total of VND13 billion ($531,600) in cash, an ambulance and a special car for the district authorities to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, they bestowed nearly 30 tons of rice, some 102,000 eggs, more than 18,900 instant noodle packs, and thousands of medical kits to serve the pandemic resistance.

The Party and government chief of Bac Tu Liem District, Luu Ngoc Ha, said the district had removed a third of all administrative procedures to endorse local companies’ operations.

On October 12, Soc Son District introduced the Soc Son Business Association to gather and connect companies and business executives. The association will assist local authorities in removing bottlenecks and serve the community's growth.

Meanwhile, at the meeting with local businesses and entrepreneurs, Chairman of the Phuc Tho District People’s Committee Nguyen Dinh Son vowed to resolve the existing issues with the business conditions.

He urged local companies to remain resilient, self-reliant and creative to cope with the market adversities and achieve the best results in their operations.
