A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is a Persian-language American vampire western film directed by Ana Lily Amirpour. Tagged as “The first Iranian vampire Western”, it was chosen to show in the “Next” program at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The film is described as being set in “the Iranian ghost-town Bad City” and depicts the doings of “a lonesome vampire”.
The film received positive reviews from critics, holding a 96% “Certified Fresh” approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 116 reviews.
Guy Lodge of Variety said in his review that “Ana Lily Amirpour’s auspicious debut feature is a sly, slinky vampire romance set in an imaginary Iranian underworld”. Andrew O’Hehir of Salon called the film “the year’s biggest discovery” and praised its feminist themes. Boyd van Hoeij, in his review for The Hollywood Reporter, praised the movie, saying “this moody and gorgeous film is finally more about atmosphere and emotions than narrative – and none the worse for it”. Drew Taylor of Indiewire graded the film A− and said that it gives “the impression that you’re witnessing something iconic and important unfold before you”.

But Igor, an evil koala, wants to destroy the jungle once and for all, helped by his army of silly baboons, etc.

MAP 2018 – Talk 1 “Fictional Reality, Fragments and Obsession”
Heritage Space will present MAP-Talk 1 “Fictional Reality, Fragments and Obsession” with presentations from young Vietnamese artist Dang Thuy Anh from Hanoi and two artists Ryusuke Ito from Sapporo (Japan) and Liem Tong from Bern (Switzerland). The talk is going to be led by architect Gaia Agostini. It is a part of the exchange activities of the project “Month of Art Practice – MAP 2018” by Heritage Space.

As part of the 2018 M.A.P with the theme “Visible – Invisible”, Artist Talk 1 is a series of presentation and discussion about the process of practicing art by three artists:
– Young Vietnamese female artist Dang Thuy Anh will present her discoveries in freeing insinuation from overlapped images, a preservation of a piece of self or an ending point of time in her art practice.
– Vietnamese-born artist Liem Tong will introduce three artworks which play an essential role in reflecting his artistic view linked with fantasies of a space-in-between formed during his travel between Vietnamese and Swiss cultures.
– Japanese artist Ryusuke Ito will share interesting stories throughout his three-decade-career in films and moving images, revealing discoveries, fiction, and an obsession of life and society from a perspective of an unreal future.

In this gorgeous October, Okia Cinema would like to present you a series of cultural and cinema activities with the theme of Russia.
Okia Cinema will be showing Russian movies since back in the day, those that were part of the childhood for many people. The war, action, comedy, drama, children, and even fairy-tale movies will be presented.
Modern Russian movies will also be shown – within our modest knowledge and capability to collect them.
Screening schedule has been made public, as for the list of movies, they will update weekly to ensure that the most amazing movies will see the autumn in Okia Hanoi.
