At Hanoi, there is a peaceful alley with unique murals reminding of Vietnamese beautiful childhood and school years.
At the age of 94, Cao Trí Thịnh – author of the wall-murals spent 20 years of his life beautify the small alley. With his own money, he bought color ink, painting brush and quietly create a new face for the zone. Even the locals are also excited about the arts on their houses. The alley has become a new tourist destination.
The paintings reflect mainly the Vietnamese family’s warm atmosphere, neighborhood friendship, and labor scene or quote wise advices from President Ho Chi Minh. Via these artworks, the old artist want to share daily life beauties’ with young generation.
Despite of old age, Thịnh spent every second of his free time for those murals. Visitors coming to the alley can ask him about stories behind those beautiful paintings and receive enthusiastic responds. Before painting every wall, he always ask for allowance of the house owner in advance. Sometimes, the locals themselves ask him for an illustrating painting.
The paintings remind of Vietnamese childhood. Children in the country often make murals in festival or ceremonial days as a school mission.
