Ao Dai festival 2018 themed “Ho Chi Minh City Charming Ao Dai” welcomed more than 100,000 tourists.
This was announced by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism’s representative at the closing ceremony of the festival on March 26. The 5th Ao Dai Festival has provided tourists and residents with meaningful and interesting activities and given a deeper insight into the beauty of Ao Dai (traditional long dress).
The highlight of the event was an Ao Dai mass performance in Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street which was joined by 3,000 people of different ages, and an Ao Dai fashion show with the participation of many top designers and representatives from travel companies.
Meanwhile, a forum and talk show on the inspiration of Ao Dai and a Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange were also held during the event that closed on March 26.
The one-month event, organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Union, has attracted more than 100,000 visitors. On the occasion, the organising board also presented Ao Dai to more than 6,000 factory workers working and living in the city.
Last year, Ao Dai Festival has attracted over 70,000 visitors who were invited to participate in various activities. The festival succeeded in establishing interaction with the participants through its thirteen major activities staged at outdoor spaces, such as a mass fashion show featuring 3,000 amateur models across Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, a photo contest and an Ao dai–themed painting competition, according to Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism.
On the closing ceremony of the festival, 14 individuals and collectives were presented with certificates of merit from the municipal People’s Committee at the event for their contributions to the success of the festival throughout its four editions.
