Under the theme “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future,” the meeting will feature retreats, a ceremony to hand over the APEC Chairmanship to Papua New Guinea and an international press conference. The same day, there will be a programme in Hoi An city, the central province of Quang Nam, for spouses of the delegation heads to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, aiming to promote Vietnamese culture to international friends.
To materialise the target, Vietnam has proposed four priorities, namely promoting sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth; deepening regional economic integration; strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises’ competitiveness and innovation in the digital age; and enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change.
Such priorities aim to meet requirements for growth restoration and regional connectivity, contributing to completing the Bogor Goals and realising the UN Agenda on Sustainable Development by 2030.
Established in 1989, APEC comprises Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.
