The Brazilian minister informed his host of the outcomes of his talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, saying that both sides reached consensus on a number of areas including politics-diplomacy, economics, trade and investment.
Brazil intends to recognise Vietnam as a market economy soon, step up the negotiations and signing of an investment promotion and protection agreement and raise trade to 10 billion USD by 2020 from 3 billion USD in 2014, he said.
He suggested fostering collaboration across farming, science-technology, national defence-security, healthcare, education and social welfare.
The guest confirmed Brazil’s readiness to work closely with Vietnam at multilateral forums and international organisations as well as to back Vietnam’s bid to be non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.
The PM, for his part, assured his guest that Vietnam wants to ramp up mutually beneficial coordination across the board with Brazil for the sake of their peoples.
He said the Vietnamese leaders have high expectations for the Brazilian President’s trip to Vietnam later this year and have asked relevant parties to prepare for the visit.
Both sides should promote existing mechanisms while developing new ones to strengthen economic, trade and investment links, he said.
The host also called for closer bilateral liaisons at multilateral forums and international organisations in the name of peace, stability, security, cooperation and development in the region and beyond.
