Calling for civil servants to wear Ao dai during Ao dai Festival 2017

The fourth Ao dai (traditional long tunic) festival to honour the Ao dai, the beauty of Vietnamese women and desginers will be held in HCM City from March 3 to 17.

Ao dai Festival 2017 is organised by Department of Tourism of HCM City in association with the municipal Women's Union.
The event will take place in Nguyen Hue walking street, the municipal Youth’s Cultural House, GEM Convention Center, the HCM City General Sciences Library, War Remnants Museum, Ao dai Museum, Southern Women's Museum, state offices and schools throughout the city.
The festival aims to honour the culture of traditional Vietnamese dresses during different periods of time and promote Ao dai to local and foreign visitors, preserve and develop the unique quintessence of the Vietnamese culture.
According to the organising board, a fashion show to highlight Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) will open the Ao dai Festival 2017 on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 on March 3.
The show Charming Vietnamese Ao dai will attract 30 fashion models in Ao dai from the latest collections by designers such as Si Hoang, Thuan Viet and Vo Viet Chung. 
This year's festival, themed Ao dai - Toi Yeu Vietnam (Ao dai - I Love Vietnam), aims to honour and promote traditional cultural values as well as the beauty and grace of the Ao dai, which has become the symbol of feminine beauty in Vietnam.
During the festival, about 13 activities will be held in open space, including an Ao dai exhibition in Nguyen Hue walking street and a contest for beautiful photos of Ao Dai, among others.
At the festival, more than 3,000 people wearing Ao dai will join in a parade at Nguyen Hue walking street.
The festival is expected to become a cultural tourism product of HCM City.

The event will include an exhibition on Ao dai at the Ao dai Museum and two open-air music and song programs featuring pop stars and young singers, including Dong Nhi, Huong Tram and Noo Phuoc Thinh.
A contest on designing Ao dai for the workplace as well as ceremonies and festivals will also be organised by the city’s Youth Cultural House.
Dozens of photo and picture exhibitions on women in Ao dai will be held at universities and cultural centers around the city.
HCM City’s government also encourages female officials and students to wear Ao dai in 1-2 days per week and even during March.
Last year, the festival attracted more than 50,000 foreign and local visitors.
