Ceramic heart expresses love for Hanoi

‘Love Heart for Hanoi’, a heart-shaped sculpture decorated with millions of ceramic pieces, is on display at Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi.

The project was made by painter Nguyen Thu Thuy, who is also the creator a number of significant ceramic projects such as the four-kilometre ceramic mosaic mural on the wall of the dyke system of Hanoi; a 2.3x1.9 metre map of Vietnam; six ceramic paintings of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago; and a lotus-shaped fountain at Mai Xuan Thuong flower garden.

The ‘Love Heart for Hanoi’ project 

 

The heart-shaped work was designed with the word ‘Hanoi’ and Hanoi’s logo inside. Hanoi, written in bright red green blue and orange, offers a joyful visual for visitors.

The base of heart is decorated with 200 ceramic painting of Hanoi. Two arc seats are installed on the two side of the heart. The seats’ backrests are decorated with ceramic pieces featuring Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Chua Mot Cot (One Pillar Pagoda) and the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), along with new sites such as the Nhat Tan bridge, Dong Tru bridge and Hanoi Museum.

The work project helps promote Hanoi's traditional beauty and famous sites

Painter Thuy was awarded the Bui Xuan Phai award for “For the Love of Hanoi” in 2009 and the title of ‘Outstanding Citizen of the City’ in 2010 for her contributions to the capital city.

The ceramic project is expected to help promote Hanoi's traditional beauty and famous sites.
