“Our heartfelt thanks go to all those who provided us with sincere support and help,” China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a regular press conference on February 10.
The medical gloves, masks and protective suits donated by the Vietnamese government have arrived in Wuhan and (like all the supplies donated by foreign governments and international organizations) will be handled by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Geng Shuang said in answering a question how the equipment will be used in the future.
In response to a question on the health condition of a Vietnamese citizen who was confirmed positive with the novel coronavirus in China, the spokesman said he needs to check for more information.
Geng Shuang said the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) – the new name called by Chinese health officials – is a challenge for all human beings, which needs to be tackled jointly by the international community.
He added that with the understanding and support from the international community, China has full confidence and capability to win the fight against the epidemic and jointly uphold regional and global public health security with the international community.
