THE HANOI TIMES — CMC Corporation, the Vietnamese technology group, has set an ambitious goal of generating US$250 million in revenue from Japan by 2028, accounting for 50% of its total international sales.

Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC Corporation, shared at the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Forum held in Hanoi on April 28.

He also revealed that the group plans to invest US$100 million to establish mini data centers in Japan within the next three years, to support the growing demand for digital and AI transformation.

From now to 2028, the group expects its workforce dedicated to the Japanese market to reach 5,000 employees, including 1,000 working directly in Japan. This would be a tenfold increase from the current headcount.

The company has opened three offices in Yokohama, Osaka, and Tokyo. The Vietnamese tech group unveiled its "Enable Your AI-X" strategy at the opening of its Tokyo office on September 18, 2024, aiming to tap the potential of digital transformation and AI together with Japanese partners.

The chairman also said that the group has partnered with the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) to open the organization's first representative office in Vietnam.

The company is prepared to support modern infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City and early-stage efforts to facilitate businesses of both countries, he noted.

CMC Corporation is an active stakeholder in the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative (VJJI 2024), which focuses on innovation, green transition, industrial development, and the training of highly skilled workers.
