Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) received the visiting Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, Admiral Harry Harris, in Hanoi on December 16.
The host said that Vietnam treasures its comprehensive cooperation with the US in various fields, pointing to naval coordination as one of the highlights of the bilateral defence ties.
He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese and US naval forces will further develop in an effective and practical manner, contributing to fostering the two countries’ defence relations.
Congratulating the VPA on its 70th founding anniversary (December 22, 1944), Harry Harris suggested Vietnam create conditions for the US to increase its naval ships visiting the country next year, thus strengthening collaboration between both sides.
