The plant will connect directly to the grid with an installed capacity of 65 megawatt peak and is expected to provide solar radiation at 2,021kW/sq meter per year. During the first year of operation, the plant is designed to produce about 104.13 million kWh of electricity and supply for the national power grid via the 110KV transformer stations.
“Huu Phuoc solar power plan conforms with national priority of clean energy development”, the company’s representative said.
The project was approved by Ninh Thuan authority on August 31, 2017, contributing to making the province a national renewable energy center. During the plant’s first phase, the investor piloted a model in which solar power was applied into local agriculture activities in an area of 5,000 square meters.
Nearly 30 Vietnamese and foreign investors have been approved to build solar power plants in Ninh Thuan, which has potential of tapping some 9,000MW of solar energy.
The province is finalizing a master plan for solar energy from 2016 to 2020 with a vision to 2030, which aims to generate around 2,000MW of electricity by 2020. Incentives in terms of corporate income tax and land use fees have been taken by the province to lure investments.
