Creating jobs for more than 1,200 people with disability

“Vocational training for people with disability is one of the important tasks to support them settle and have a normal life” – Vice Director of Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Hoang Thanh Thai said.

On November 30 at the conference honoring outstanding enterprises creating jobs for people with disability, Vice Director of Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Hoang Thanh Thai said, as of present, Hanoi has 102,700 people with disability, contributing to 1.3% of population.

Implementing regulations on creating jobs for people with disability, the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has cooperated with the Hanoi Department of Finance in consulting the Hanoi People’s Committee to issue regultions on the tuition fee for vocational training, creating jobs in accordance with demand and capabilities of people with disability. As such, people with disability in Hanoi will be taught in 10 professions. The tuition fee will be from 3 – 4 million VND per person, while the training period will be from 5 – 6 months depending on each profession, accomodation, traveling and eating fees during this period. 

“According to plan, every year, Hanoi will allocate 1 – 2 billion VND to organize free vocational training for people with disability. As such, it will help them to have job suitable with their capabilities, so that they will have a steady income to settle down” – Thanh Thai said. 

Since 2006, Hanoi has organized vocational training for people with disability, in period from 2015 – 2017, there are more than 1,200 people with disability to be trained and created jobs for 6 billion VND. Also in 2016, Hanoi has organized workshops for peole with disability, introducing 434 people to be employed in enterprises, 212 people participating in vocational training and 1,310 consulted on job suitability. 

Hanoi Disable People Association has cooperated with Hanoi Youth Job Center organizing 12 training course for 1,000 people with disability. In order to support people with disability and their family for living, in 2016, Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has cooperated with related agencies to review and give financial support for 963 households with the average of more than 28 million VND. In the first 6 months of 2017, there are 479 households of people with disability to lend financial means with 17 million VND each to start business.
