Hanoi welcomed an estimated 23.11 million tourists in the first 10 months of 2024, up 11.2% from the same period in 2023, according to the latest report from the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

In October, Hanoi's tourism industry welcomed 2.05 million visitors, an increase of 9.1% compared to the same period last year. Of these, more than 553,000 were international tourists, up 14.6%, while domestic visitors reached 1.5 million, up 7.1%. The total revenue from tourism in the first 10 months of the year is estimated at VND90.065 billion or over US$3.5 million, up 17.2% year-on-year.
To attract more visitors, Hanoi's tourism industry launched a series of initiatives in October, including the "Cultural Festival for Peace" to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the capital's liberation and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi's designation as a City for Peace. Other notable events included the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024, among others.

In addition, a number of new night tours have been launched in recent times, attracting large numbers of participants and receiving high praise from visitors. These include the "Sacred Night Tour" to the Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site; the "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel" Night Tour; "The Quintessence of Education" and the "Literature Night Tour" at the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Relic; as well as the Son Tay Ancient Citadel Walking Street; the Creative Cultural Space at Trinh Cong Son Pedestrian Zone, and others.
Since their inception, these night tours and walking streets have garnered significant attention and participation from both locals and tourists, especially during major holidays and special events.
In 2024, Hanoi aims to welcome around 27 million visitors, an increase of 9.2% from 2023.
This would include 5.5 million international visits (with 3.8 million stays) - an increase of 16.4% from the 2023 level - and 21.5 million domestic visits, up 7.5%. Total revenue from tourists is expected to reach about VND103.74, or more than $4.2 million, up 11.1% from the 2023 level, while the average room occupancy rate of accommodation establishments will rise to 62%.
