US travel magazine Travel & Leisure recently cited Cua Van fishing village in the northern province of Quang Ninh amongst the top 10 coastal towns in the world.
The village ranked ninth, followed by Ilulissat in western Greenland’s Qaasuitsup municipality.
“About 700 people (traditionally fishermen) live in anchored houseboats, with kids attending a floating school. Cua Van has become a popular tourist attraction, as visitors want to see this unusual way of life for themselves.”, Travel & Leisure highlights the unique Vietnamese community.
Located nearly 30km from the mainland, Cua Van fishing village, famous for the magnificent limestone mountains of Halong Bay, is home to nearly 200 households who enjoy a peaceful life on floating boats.
Also in the list are Polperro (South West England), Saint George (Bermuda), Manarola (Italy), Camden (US), Kotor (Montenegro), Lunenburg (Canada), SidiBou Said (Tunisia), and Cadaqués (Spain).
