The Cuba Tourism Day introduces to Vietnamese people Cuban landscape, people and culture.
The Cuba Tourism Day opened in Hanoi on March 26 and will last till March 30, aiming at promoting prestigious Cuban travel services and facilities, and making Cuba a tourist attraction to Vietnamese people.
The event is jointly held by the Cuban embassy in Vietnam, Hanoitourist and Russian Airlines Aeroflot.
According to Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Lianys Torres Rivera, Cuba welcomed over 4.7 million international tourists in 2018, a record number in the history of Cuba tourism industry, representing a growth rate of 1.3% compared to 2017.
Currently, tourism is Cuba’s important foreign exchange earner, ranking second of the island’s economic sectors and contributing about 10% to its GDP.
In the Vietnamese’s mind, Cuba is not only a beautiful Caribbean island but also a nation which has maintained a time honored diplomatic relation with Vietnam.
However, few Vietnamese have visited Cuba due to geographical distance and high cost. Moreover, information of Cuban tourism is still scarce for Vietnamese people.
Director of Hanoitourist Travel Co. Phung Quang Thang affirmed his business has designed a tour package which could save traveling expenses for Cuba lovers and experienced travelers named "Cuba - Russia: A two-span journey". During 12 days and 11 nights, visitors have the opportunity to visit Cuba as well as have experiences in Russia.
In order for Cuba to become a travel destination, Hanoitourist hopes to work with other travel firms to promote and elevate the number of Vietnamese visitors to Cuba, said the director of Hanoitourist Travel.
According to Cuban Ambassador, this is a great event to promote Cuban tourism. She hopes that the two countries will have more cooperation in the future and Cuba is willing to welcome Vietnamese friends who wish to travel to the island nation.
During the five-day event, Hanoians and foreign visitors have chance to immerse themselves in the exhibition space bearing the identity of the country known as the “Pearl of the Caribbean”.
