Hanoi Culinary Culture Festival 2019 set to open
The Hanoi Culture Cuisine Festival 2019 is scheduled to take place from June 7 to 9 at Thong Nhat Park in the Hai Ba Trung district.
This is the second holding of the festival, following on from the success of the first last year. It aims to promote the culture of Hanoi and serve as an opportunity for cultural exchanges between regions throughout the country, contributing to tourism development in Hanoi and Vietnam.
This year’s festival will introduce specialties not only from Hanoi but also from the northern, central, and southern regions through various activities.
About 50 to 70 booths will be set up in a space recreated as a countryside village, featuring delicious traditional dishes from around the country and gathering together artisan chefs nationwide. Along with enjoying the food, visitors can also watch the dishes preparation process and the cooking skills of chefs.
There will be a space dedicated to children’s food and an exhibition introducing the history of Vietnamese cuisine and the dining culture of the three regions from the past to the present. Talkshows will be held between cuisine and cultural specialists and Hanoi researchers and visitors, and there will also be a range of artistic performances and folk games.

EVHanoi Indie Troupe’s craft market @Ra Tay aims to honor the art of craft-making and the bond between old traditions and new values. This event is a gathering of young people who dedicate to making a career with their crafts – embracing high standards in product quality and depth of research interwoven with expressions of their own individuality.
A group of young creators and makers come from various points of achievement in their own creative journey: the quiet practitioners; the up-and-coming new stars, the ones about to make a big step and even those who have achieved success overseas, each with a story of their own.
During event hours, Ra Tay also offers a program of talk shows and workshops in which vendors will share their knowledge on the pursuit of craft-making and other creative ventures.
“Ra Tay” is a summarized translation of the market’s English name. In Vietnamese, to “ra tay” carries a variety of meanings: to make an action with a sense of urgency; to show off what one’s capable of; to leave a strong impression, to establish a statement with a burning determination and no intention of delay or restrain. To finally do something that matters.

Exhibition “Another Crossing” by Bao Vuong
Manzi Art Space is pleased to present ‘Another Crossing” – a solo exhibition by Bao Vuong, a French-Vietnamese artist based in Saigon.
‘Another Crossing’ features Bao’s latest series of paintings and a five-day performance which will be held on the 2nd floor of Manzi Art Space.
The series of paintings in ANOTHER CROSSING is a projection of the nights in the open seas spent out by his family on the run. Forsaken in the dark, without a clue. Darkness increases imminent death and swallows those that have sacrificed and lost everything worth living. Black paint awakens fears associated with the exile, while reflections of light on the paint strokes represent shimmers of hope that give birth to a survival instinct, echoing the promise for a better world.
The performance piece by Bao Vuong in the exhibition entitled “Water” is a creation of a graphic work in situ, which will start on the first day of the exhibition and will end four days later.
