Cultural similarities provide basis for Vietnam-Italy cooperation in various fields

Hanoi and Italy could strengthen cooperation in scientific and technological development, alongside tackling environmental pollution.

Italy is one of the countries that has a deep cultural influence on Vietnam, especially in fashion, cuisine, and motorcycles, marking an important foundation for the two countries to develop cooperation in other areas.

This was the view expressed today [April 19] by Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh during a meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, Marco della Seta.

The Mayor of Hanoi told the Ambassador that he acknowledged the contributions of the Italian community in Hanoi, highlighting the close diplomatic and cooperative relations between the governments of the two countries and between Vietnamese and Italian businesses.

"Vietnam and Italy have many cultural similarities. Italy is one of the countries with a strong cultural influence on Vietnam, especially in fashion, cuisine, and motorcycles," said Thanh.

This is an important foundation for the two countries to expand cooperation in other areas."

Thanking the Mayor of Hanoi for his warm welcome, Seta said that Hanoi is a livable city with many unique and diverse cultural and tourist attractions.

He discussed the contributions of Italians in Hanoi, noting that the Italian community is active and brings economic benefits and investments to the city. They have made significant contributions to the cultural sector.

The Italian Ambassador expressed his desire to continue cooperating with Hanoi in the cultural field, hoping the city would support and facilitate the successful organization of Italian cultural events.

Seta also discussed the potential for scientific and technological development in Hanoi and expressed Italy's willingness to collaborate with Hanoi and Vietnam in these fields. He also offered support in addressing environmental pollution.

Agreeing on the priorities for cooperation between Hanoi and Rome, Thanh said that after this meeting, the two sides would discuss specific cooperation activities in detail, with Hanoi's commitment to support and foster these activities.

The chairman expressed his wish to strengthen the good relationship between the two countries and between Hanoi and Italian cities. He also welcomed investors and activities related to culture, fashion, and education.

Emphasizing Italy's strength in science and technology, the chairman noted that Italy is a potential partner for Vietnam to learn from and collaborate within this field.

In the future, he hopes to receive support, contributions, or advice from Italian experts working in Vietnam on environmental issues.
