Da Nang city is now considering some locations near Han River to set up night market areas as part of tourism development.
This information was relayed by Truong Quang Nghia, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee on March 14.
Accordingly, the Da Nang City Party Committee has urged the Hai Chau and Son Tra People’s Committee to coordinate on building entertainment and shopping destinations along the road near Han River. Specifically, the city government will build shopping booths at night in Mai Hac De and Ly Nam De routes (Ngu Hanh Son district).
In February 2018, the Da Nang People’s Committee approved the project of An Thuong Tourist Zone located on the coast of My An Ward, turning it into a 24/7 service point for tourists.
The project will be jointly developed by the district and the city Department of Tourism to provide directions for further tourism development in the area by providing management solutions, infrastructure investment, and organizing different service zones. The project’s objectives include creating 24/7 entertainment and shopping destinations and offering distinct products that meet tourism demands.
At the An Thuong nightlife district, the model of international and local tourism, spacial orientation, zoning/planning, as well as investment and operation, would be similar to some overseas nightlife tourist zones. The coastal area for tour services will host various sea-related events and tourism festivals. Additionally, a square will be built to host outdoor activities and events.
The Da Nang People’s Committee has just promulgated a decision to commence tourism development projects in 2018 with a total cost of VND14,4 billion (US$633,600). With this budget, Da Nang expects to focus on tourism development services like eco- and rural tourism and to strengthen the management of accommodation and travel. Da Nang also wants to increase tourism promotion via mass media.
The total number of visitors to Da Nang in 2017 is estimated at 6.6 million, an increase of 19% compared to 2016. The total social income from tourism is estimated at VND19.4 trillion (US$853 million), an increase of 20.6%. The turnover from accommodation and travel is estimated at VND6.6 trillion (US$294 million), increasing by 8.6% compared to 2016, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
