The Da Nang Museum has also launched a new the museum logo on this occasion.
The Da Nang Museum on January 8 launched a multi-language guide via mobile app, which was developed by Da Nang University in coordination with the museum.
The program aims to help visitors gain insights into the museum by using smartphone to scan QR codes labelled on the artefacts.
Accordingly, visitors need to download the Da Nang Museum app from App Store or Google Play, then use it to scan QR codes attached to the 600 objects on display at the museum.
On this occasion, the museum also introduced a data bank of Da Nang’s cultural heritage, which stores more than 3,300 documents on the intangible culture of the city.
Around 250 of these are written documents on traditional arts genres and practices, such as tuong (traditional opera), Bai Choi singing (a popular folklore in the central and south central regions of Vietnam), and whale worshipping festival.
A new logo of the museum also made debut on the occasion. The logo is designed with a circle on the outside, representing the sky, and a square in the middle, which symbolizes the earth.
The logo center is a stylized image of Dien Hai Citadel special national historical monument, surrounded by three letters D, N, M, which stands for Da Nang Museum.
The number of visitors to Da Nang in 2018 increased 15.5% on-year to an estimated 7.6 million, including 2.8 million foreigners, a 23.3% increase from a year earlier, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
Of the total tourists to Vietnam's central city, 4.7 million were domestic holidaymakers, an 11.2% increase compared to 2017. Arrivals by sea and air in the reviewed period recorded annual increases of 66% and 48.7% respectively. Da Nang’s revenue from travel in 2018 is estimated at VN24 trillion (US$1.03 billion), representing an on-year jump of 23.3%.
