Danang International Fireworks Festival returns with added spectacles
With more innovation and investment, Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018 promises to make Danang known as “the City of Fireworks.”
DIFF 2018 will be held in the central coastal city of Danang from April 29 to June 30 and is meant as an international tourism and cultural event in celebration of Vietnam’s Reunification Day (April 30).
Organizers said that following the success of DIFF 2017, the 2018 edition will offer many new features to set the bar even higher and meet the expectations of visitors to Danang.
In a statement released on the website www.diff.vn, the organizing committee says the forthcoming firework festival will feature performances by seven international teams from Poland, France, the US, Italy, Hong Kong, Sweden, Portugal, and the host country Vietnam over the iconic Han River in the central city. The competitors have bagged many awards at other international fireworks competitions.
Scores of activities are expected to take place on the sidelines of the firework competition, including a food festival, a flash mob dance performance for students, and a street carnival show.
With the theme of "The Legend of Bridges," the attending eight countries/regions of DIFF 2018 will regale the audience with famous tales of Danang’s many bridges, adding a touch of flavorful local culture lying within hand’s reach to spectators.
Accompanying the firework night, there will be a series of events and art performances that will light up the streets of Danang, turning them into a colorful fanfare of jubilance throughout the two-month festival.
It is expected that DIFF 2018 will attract thousands of visitors to the city in the two summer months and gradually highlight DIFF on the cultural festival schedule.
With more innovations and a more sophisticated investment, DIFF 2018 promises to step-by-step realize the aspirations of Danang to become “the city of fireworks" to rival Pohang (South Korea) or Hokkaido (Japan), and Macau.
Held for the first time in 2008, the Danang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC) has emerged as an important annual cultural and tourism event, contributing to boosting cultural exchanges and woo foreign tourists to Danang city and Vietnam. This year marked an important milestone of the international competition as DIFC was renamed as DIFF with eight international teams attending.
2018 marks the tenth Danang Fireworks Festival. Over the past 8 events, the Danang International Fireworks Festival has constantly reinvented itself and has now developed into a world-class cultural and tourist event that is hosted on an annual basis from April to June.
Inspired by Danang’s famous arching bridges, DIFF 2018 is themed “The Legend of Bridges.” This year’s event will take place from April 30 to June 30 and involves 5 spectacular fireworks nights and a series of striking events.
The Danang International Fireworks Competition became a bi-annual event in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017 to celebrate the Vietnam National Reunification Holiday, which is celebrated on April 30. With careful preparation, each performance is not only a symphony of sound and light but also an artistic masterpiece shining against the beautiful backdrop of Vietnam’s ‘City of Bridges.’
