The whole world, except the US, always condemned this move of Israel, considers it a serious violation of international law.
The world looks with growing concerns to the Middle East where in the few last days some new developments have made the whole political and security situation more and more explosive. They are really dangerous for the future of the region.
It started with US President Donald Trump having decided to recognize Israel's sovereignty over Syria's Golan Heights which this country seized from Syria in the 1967 War and then annexed them in 1981. The whole world, except the US, always condemned this move of Israel, considers it a serious violation of international law, and confirms Syria's legal and full sovereignty over this territory and demanded Israel to return the Golan Heights to Syria. It should be reminded that not long ago President Trump declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and ordered moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, ignoring and violating international law.
It continued with announcement of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that in case of winning the parliamentary election on April 9, he would annex the West Bank currently under Palestinian control. Netanyahu plays this card to win the support of right and nationalist voters in this election. He needs it to push back his political opponent Benny Gantz, who poses the biggest danger to his power. But it signals that he no longer intends to pursue the "Two States - Solution" to the lasting conflict between Israel and Palestine which until now Israel committed to. This solution consists of establishing the Palestine State in territories in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip which co-exists with the State of Israel. Therefore, this election is like some kind of plebiscite on legalizing the unlawful annexation of other's territories seized through wars by Israel.
And then the attacks of the Libyan National Army led by General Khalifa Hafftar on Libya’s capital Tripoli are awaking fears and concerns that this country could become the newest theater of civil war, violence and destruction with negative impacts on peace, national reconciliation and reunification in Libia as well as on peace, security and stability in the whole region.
All these are very dangerous for the region. They cast dark shadow over the future of the region because more conflicts and confrontations, more violence and mistrust would be inevitable. They made the achieving of peace, security, stability and cooperation between all parties in this region much harder and more complicated.
