Deputy PM hosted reception for Cambodian, German Ambassadors

On July 27 afternoon, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh received Cambodian Ambassador in Vietnam Hul Phany bidding farewell to end his term; Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Berger for courtesy visit.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh congratulated Ambassador Hul Phany on being awarded Vietnamese Order of Friendship; appreciating the good feelings and the positive contribution of the Ambassador in the working term in Vietnam for more than 6 years in strengthening and development of relations between Vietnam and Cambodia in general and between the two foreign ministries in particular.

On President Tran Dai Quang’s authority, Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam presented the Friendship Order to Ambassador Hul Phany in honour of his active contributions to fostering the fine neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Also on July 27, Phany was also welcomed by Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister Phan Van Giang. 

* The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh also received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Berger for a courtesy visit.

Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the positive development of Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership, especially the good results achieved in the State-level visit to Germany by President Truong Tan Sang on November, 2015, in which economic cooperation has got numerous achievements.

Germany is the leading trade partner of Vietnam in the EU, accounting for 19% of our exports to the EU. Two-way trade turnover in 2015 reached nearly $9 billion (rising 14% compared to 2014); First 5 months of 2016 reached more than $4 billion.

Ambassador Christian Berger affirmed his best support friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries during his tenure.

The two sides expressed their desire to Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EU soon be signed for new cooperation opportunities for the business communities of the two countries and the two regions; contributing development of relations between Vietnam and the EU through the rapid implementation of the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation (PCA).
