DPM directs campaigns against HIV/AIDS, prostitution and drug

He has asked the Ministry of Health to work with other ministries and agencies in the supply of methadone used to treat drug addicts and report back to him the 2014-2015 Methadone treatment program.

Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam had asked relevant ministries, agencies and localities to step up communication campaigns on HIV/AIDS, prostitution and drug prevention and control as well as cooperation at all levels.
The Deputy PM has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to closely supervise the import and production of drug substances.

 
 
He has asked the Ministry of Health to work with other ministries and agencies in the supply of methadone used to treat drug addicts and report back to him the 2014-2015 Methadone treatment program.
The Ministry of Finance will guarantee the expenditure for the National Target Program on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control.
In the first half of 2014, 3,133 people were found positive with HIV, down 26%; 1,388 developed full blown AIDS and 462 died of AIDS, down 48%.
As of April 30, the nation had has 219,163 HIV carriers, 67,557 living with AIDS and 69,449 deaths of AIDS.
It was estimated that 25,684 are prostitutes, of whom 6,356 have been recorded.
Over the past six months of the year, 15,298 drug-related criminals and 478.7kg of heroin were seized.
