At the meeting, Ms. Truong Thi Mai expressed her hope that the diplomats, with their new roles, will effectively popularise the guidelines of the Party as well as the State’s policies and laws on foreign relations and activities towards Vietnamese nationals living abroad.

She urged the diplomats to grasp thoroughly the situation of the overseas Vietnamese communities and take timely measures to support them when needed, while creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to develop business activities in the homeland and encouraging them to contribute ideas to the Party’s guidelines and the policies and laws of the State.

Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation and other international organisations in Geneva (Switzerland), asserted that he will work closely with the Commission for Mass Mobilisation to effectively realise policies towards overseas Vietnamese, thus bringing them closer to the homeland and establishing sound connection with localities in their host countries.

Vietnam commits utmost efforts to speeding up the National Assembly approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), he stated. Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnam’s diplomatic foreign missions are expected to help promote investment, culture and tourism cooperation and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and their host countries.
