Enterprises have taken a pioneering role towards the development of Hanoi over the last few years, said Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.
Hanoi identifies the people and enterprises as the main beneficiaries during its course of development, and strives to improve the conducive business environment for enterprises to expand their operations, according to Nguyen Duc Chung, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Enterprises have taken a pioneering role towards the development of Hanoi over the last few years, said Chung at Thang Long Entrepreneur Gala 2019, honoring outstanding enterprises and entrepreneurs in Hanoi held on October 8.
In the last four years, Hanoi’s state budget revenue has doubled, while the capital remains at top of the country in FDI attraction. These results were thanks to the contribution of the business community and its belief in Hanoi’s business environment, Chung added.
In the first nine months of 2019, the number of newly established enterprises reached 20,000 with a 20-fold increase in registered capital against the same period of last year, indicating strong development of Hanoi’s enterprises, Chung continued.
Moreover, the business community has not shied away from social responsibilities, accompanying the city in social welfare programs and creating jobs for over 70,000 people.
Nguyen Hong Son, vice chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and chairman of the Hanoi Business Association (HBA), said the gala is part of series of events to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Vietnam’s Entrepreneurs Day (October 13, 2004 – October 13, 2019), 10th anniversary of the gala of Thang Long Entrepreneurs, and 65th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.
Son added the gala, an initiative of the HBA that was first held in 2009, reflects the strong unity and aims to realize full potential of each member of the association.
According to Son, Hanoi's business community over the last 10 years has made a huge leap in development, further integrating in global economy and enhancing competitiveness in the context of trans-border markets.
