The exhibition is among events to celebrate the 100th birthday of the UAE founder.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassy launched a photograph exhibition in Hanoi on August 8 to commemorate the 100th birthday of the country’s founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dubbed 2018 as the “Year of Zayed”. This year-long commemoration will feature a series of events and initiatives in the UAE and internationally, designed to commemorate the late Sheikh Zayed, and showcase his impact and legacy, and promote the values he lived by and carried forward.
Speaking at an exhibition on the UAE’s historic figure, UAE Ambassador to Vietnam Obaid Saeed Obaid Al Daheri said “2018 is a special year for the UAE, as our young nation marks the 100th birthday of its founder”.
According to the diplomat, the government of the UAE is commemorating the legacy of Sheikh Zayed through future projects and initiatives in line with his vision and values.
The country, basing on foundation left by its founder, has made long strides in development, especially its diplomacy policy, noted the UAE diplomat.
“The traditional Arab values rooted in the personality of Sheikh Zayed are at the core of the UAE’s foreign policy since its establishment and until this day”, he said.
One of the most notable achievements was the signing the Agreement on Schengen visa exemption by the UAE and the European Union in May 2015. This agreement was the beginning of a series of agreements that enabled the citizens of the state to enter to 139 countries around the world, 128 of which allow the citizens of the state to enter its territory without prior visas, he added.
Moreover, the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was the key driver behind the UAE’s achievements in all fields, especially in economic, said the ambassador, adding that foreign investments in the country reached AED1.05 trillion (roughly US$285 billion) 2016.
