The event is considered as one of the biggest promotional events concerning Vietnam ever held in Cambodia, with 300 photos and over 100 documentaries divided into eight topics: World Heritage sites in Vietnam; Traditional villages of Vietnam; Vietnam’s festivals; Vietnamese cuisine; The beauty of Vietnam’s landscape and people; Vietnam - integration and development; Vietnamese press; Vietnam - Cambodia relations.
Speaking the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao said that the event aims to give visitors an overall view on the political, cultural, and economic, as well as the diplomatic relations, between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The organisation board hopes to bring Vietnam closer to the Cambodian people, thus fostering the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation between the two nations, he added.
For his part, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Art Khim Sarith said that this year, the exhibition is among major activities jointly held by both countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, which helps forge connectivity and exchanges between the two peoples.
Cambodia – Vietnam relations take place in the form of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The countries have shared a land border for the last 1,000 years and share more recent historical links through being part of the French colonial empire. Both countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
