Foreign delegations pay respects to Vietnam's late president

Vietnam’s state funeral for President Tran Dai Quang is organized at the National Funeral Hall, No.5 Tran Thanh Tong street, Hanoi from September 26-27.

According to the national funeral organizing board, numerous delegations of foreign nations and representatives of international organizations in Vietnam came to pay respects to deceased President Tran Dai Quang, who passed away on September 21 at the age of 61.

The foreign delegations included those from Berlarus, Cambodia,
China, Cuba, Japan, Laos, Mozambique, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, the World Federation of Trade Union, Non-residential Pontifical Representative to Vietnam, among others.

Earlier, a large number of foreign dignitaries sent messages of condelences over the passing of President Quang.

Vietnam's diplomatic missions overseas all over the world, from Australia, Cuba to Switzerland, Cambodia, Laos, the United Nations also received condolences from local residents and overseas Vietnamese.

The funeral is held by the Party Central Committee, National Assembly, State President, Government and Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. President Tran Dai Quang was laid in state at the National Funeral Hall. 

The State funeral for the President began at 7am on September 26 at the National Funeral Hall, No.5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

The memorial service will be held at 7:30am on September 27 at the National Funeral Hall, the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and the President’s native land.

The burial ceremony will take place from 3:30pm on the same day in the president's native land in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.

Some 1,500 domestic and international delegations with approximately 50,000 people had paid tribute to President Tran Dai Quang by 5pm on September 26 at the funeral in Hanoi, the national funeral organizing board said.

In addition, many delegations from domestic and foreign agencies, localities and international friends paid homage to President Quang at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, and in his hometown Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.
