Foreign ministry pledges utmost support for missing student’s family

The student had been missing since January, and her body was found recently by the local police.

Agencies of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Vietnamese Embassy in France are working with local authorities to investigate the death of a female Vietnamese student, announced the ministry’s spokesperson Pham Thu Hang on June 6.

The female student was reported to have been missing since January 2024. Her body was found by the French police early this week in the suburbs of Paris.

Hang said the ministry immediately contacted local authorities in Paris and neighboring regions after receiving the information.

The Vietnamese embassy has facilitated procedures for her family to come to France and is working with the local government so that her remains can be returned home soon, the spokesperson said.

On behalf of the ministry, Hang expressed deepest condolences to the student's family for their loss.

She recommended that Vietnamese nationals working and studying abroad soon register with the authorities and Vietnam’s diplomatic missions to receive immediate assistance in case of emergency.
