The 2019 United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak Celebrations is an opportunity to promote Vietnam’s image as well as its potential for tourism development.
International delegates attending the 2019 UN Day of Vesak Celebrations in the northern province of Ha Nam, which take places from May 12 to 14 at the Tam Chuc Buddhist Cultural Complex, will be offered free spiritual tours, Hanoimoi newspaper reported, citing the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
Accordingly, the organizing board said that they are offering five tours for international guests and delegates attending the 2019 UN of Vesak Celebrations, in which, there are three free and two paid tours. After the closing ceremony on May 14, the organizers will arrange three free tours, including Trang An - Bai Dinh tour (Ninh Binh province), Yen Tu tour (Quang Ninh province) and Fansipan Peak - Sapa tour (Lao Cai province). The other two on-demand tours are sightseeing visits of Hanoi, and Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province.
These days, local travel companies are launching pilgrimage tours to Tam Chuc - Ha Nam and neighboring provinces for Buddhists and visitors. In particular, Vietravel was entrusted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to cover logistics work for the event for the third time. During the celebrations, Vietravel will undertake and administer all promotional activities, and coordinate transportation, accommodation and air ticket services.
In addition, the VNAT has also sent documents to the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Nam and Lao Cai and the Tourism Departments of Hanoi and Quang Ninh, as well as local travel companies and hotels, urging for coordination and requesting them to create favourable conditions for delegates to attend the 2019 UN Day of Vesak Celebrations.
On May 12, more than 1,650 international delegates from 112 countries and territories across the world and over 20,000 Vietnamese Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers attended the opening ceremony of the 2019 UN Day of Vesak Celebrations at Tam Chuc Pagoda in Kim Bang district, Ha Nam province.
This is the third time Vietnam has hosted the UN Day of Vesak Celebrations, helping to improve Vietnamese Buddhism’s role in international integration and affirm Vietnam's position and responsibility for UN activities in all fields.
