As per the proposal, the cable will be about five kilometers long, of which the 1.2 kilometer-section hangs over the Red river while the rest spans on land and runs above buildings.
Accordingly, an aerial cable consisting of cabins moving through ropes will be built. With capacity of serving 25-30 people each cabin, the system can serve 7,000 passengers per hour.
Connecting Long Bien bus transit station (Tran Nhat Duat Street) to Gia Lam Station (Long Bien district), the system would ease the traffic pressure for the inner city and reduce congestion during rush hours on the three bridges of Long Bien, Chuong Duong and Vinh Tuy, according to Poma.
Poma’s representative also affirmed the practicality and feasibility of the proposal, basing on actual demand of transport in Hanoi. Once approved, construction would take 12-24 months to be completed, said the French firm.
Hanoi official has received Poma’s proposal and pledged to consider its feasibility. Regarding the offer, Director of the Hanoi Transport Department Vu Van Vien on Jun 29 said the authority would spend more time studying details of the project.
“We’re open for all the potential solutions for Hanoi traffic, yet they should be workable and in line with the city master plan”, Vien said.

In Vietnam, the group has joined hands in providing cableways for tourists in some famous sites including Vinpearl Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Tay Thien (Vinh Phuc), An Giang, etc.
