General Secretary met with intellectuals, scientists and artists

On the morning of February 12, at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held a meeting with intellectuals, scientists, artists on the occasion of Lunar New Year.

The Party Central Committee has issued a resolution on educational reform and scientific, technological, and cultural development. 
 

The Party has always acknowledged that intellectuals are the basis of social advancement. They are the key force of innovation and spreading knowledge in society. 
 


In recent years, Vietnamese intellectuals have promoted their role and made great contribution to national development. Scientists have studied and initiated innovative programs, while artists have produced quality products, the Party chief said.

2015 is a significant year as Vietnam will organize the Party Congresses at all levels, the national Party Congress, and several national celebrations which are all opportunities for scientists and artists to promote their creativity, he noted.

Trong reiterated Vietnam’s major work this year including implementing socio-economic targets set by the 11th Party Congress, escalating the international integration process, expanding external relations using wise and flexible policies, defending national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and ensuring social order and stability for development.
