German Science Day 2019, which took place in Hanoi on October 30, featured tightened Vietnam and Germany’s cooperation in science and technology as well as further support to the Southeast Asian country.

Being organized by The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in cooperation with the German Embassy in Hanoi, the event marks a large variety of presentations, lectures, counselling sessions and a unique chance to get in contact with the representatives of leading German universities, research institutions and funding organizations.
The event, the third of its kind in Vietnam, included talks on scientific cooperation, funding options, and research projects which include work on water and environmental technologies, sustainable urban development, bio-economy and health.
It also presents exemplary bilateral research projects and facilitate further networking under the support of both ministries and other German funding institutions presented funding instruments for new joint project ideas.
The event also marked presentations of the ongoing projects on water supply for mountainous areas, biodiversity, sustainable urban development, and climate adaptation.
A wide range of Germany-funded and joint projects significantly help Vietnam achieve the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030.
Notably, German scholars and officials shared their ideas in research and sustainable growth for Vietnamese partners.
