Golden Tiger on display for the God of Wealth’s Day

A precious sophisticated tiger statue made of pure gold is on display at a Center for Gold, Silver and Gemstone in Hanoi, attracting the attention of visitors on the God of Wealth’s Day.

Buying gold for luck during the day of “Via than Tai” or God of Wealth’s Day, which falls on the 10th day of the first Lunar month (February 10 this year) is a belief of people in some Asian countries like China, Singapore and Hong Kong.

They think that buying gold on this day, when the God of Wealth is said to return to heaven, brings good luck and prosperity throughout the year. In Vietnam, the people in the North acquire the habit of buying the precious metal on this day only since the last five years, while it was observed in the southern region for a long time.

In order to attract visitors to its showroom, Doji Group, one of Vietnam largest gold traders, has recently showcased the “Kim Dan Vuong Bao” or a giant statute of Tiger made of gold. It is said that the statue is worth VND70 billion or US$3.09 million.

Kim Dan Vuong Bao” is made of 999.9 pure gold. It is nearly one meter tall, including the pedestal, and weighs 46kg. It is crafted from 1,226 taels of gold (about 46kg).

It takes goldsmiths thousands of hours to create such of the sophisticated statue of the Tiger- the zodiac of 2022.

The image of a golden tiger, symbolizing power and strength, is thought to bring fortune and wealth for the coming year.
The Golden Tiger attracted many visitors to the gold showroom.

Other gold products are also on display for sale. The Tiger statue is named “Kim Dan Phu tu” or Tiger father and his cub.

Seekers of good fortune do not mind queuing up to buy the precious metal. It is forecast gold demand to trend higher than previous years on the God of Wealth’s Day.
