Government encourages businesses to invest in airport infrastructure
Vietnamese Government encourages domestic and foreign firms to invest in airport infrastructure construction in Vietnam.
Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue made the statement during his visit to the Zurich Airport AG on January 22, which was part of his trip to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos.
Politburo member Hue welcomed the Swiss aviation group’s prompt arrival in Vietnam to explore and seek investment cooperation opportunities.
He added that alongside airport projects, Zurich Airport AG could purchase shares of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, of which the State will only hold 65% of charter capital by the end of 2020.
Affirming Vietnam’s interest in airport infrastructure development, he stated that the Vietnamese Government is in the process of finalizing a legal framework concerning the public-private partnership (PPP), aiming to ensure the legitimate rights and interests as well as mutual benefits of involved parties.
At Zurich International Airport, Deputy PM Hue was briefed on the Swiss group’s modern airport management model, which integrates the commercial, financial and conferencing functions, alongside different services.
Lukas Brosi, chief financial officer of Zurich Airport AG, affirmed the group’s attention to investment projects in Vietnam, as well as the Vietnamese Government’s measures to finalize the legal framework on the PPP.
Zurich Airport AG has completed its initial survey about the Long Thanh International Airport project, he said, revealing that a direct air route between Zurich and Ho Chi Minh City will be put into operation in the next few weeks.
In addition to the Long Thanh Airport project, Deputy PM Hue introduced some other airport projects in Vietnam to call for Zurich Airport AG’s investment, such as Van Don, Chu Lai and Lao Cai.
