Ha Long – Quang Ninh Tourism Week 2019 to be held in late April

Quang Ninh is endowed with natural advantages of sea, island tourism and is home to the Ha Long and Bai Tu Long Bays, the Ha Long Bay National Park and some islands.

The Ha Long - Quang Ninh Tourism Week is scheduled to take place in late April and early May, entailing various activities held across the northeastern coastal province of Quang Ninh, VNA reported.

Accordingly, Quang Ninh province People’s Committee has approved the plan to organize eight programs, major events and nine activities during the Ha Long – Quang Ninh Tourism Week.
There will be eight major programs, including an art performance to welcome the arrival of summer on April 27; cultural, musical, and sports events marking 64 years of the local liberation day (April 25, 1955 - 2019) and 44 years of South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - 2019); and an exhibition on the provincial UNESCO-recognized global heritage site Ha Long Bay from past to present; the opening ceremony of Dragon Park, Rose Park (Tuan Chau – Ha Long Area); the 2019 Culture, Sports and Tourism Week in Co To district.
In addition, Quang Ninh province will also organize nine activities during the Ha Long – Quang Ninh Tourism Week, including the traditional Bach Dang festival, the launch of a tourism route between the local city of Mong Cai and China’s Fangchenggang city, and the Tuan Chau - Ha Long beach volleyball tournament.
Earlier, the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) under the theme “ASEAN-The Power of One” opened in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province on January 16 with the participation of over 2,000 delegates from tourism agencies of the ASEAN countries, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO),  local and  international travel companies and tourism media outlets.
This year’s forum focused on six main topics, including positioning ASEAN as a single destination for tourists, raising the awareness of ASEAN as a competitive tourist destination and strengthening co-operation among various economic sectors of ASEAN tourism.
In 2018, the province hosted the National Tourism Year under the theme “Ha Long – Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination”. It welcomed a record of over 12 million tourists, up 24% year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.
