Speaking at the launching ceremony, Dr. Tran Viet Hung, a successful founder in Silicon Valley and a member of an advisory group in the Prime Minister’s national committee on education-training reform for 2016-2021, affirmed that Vietnam faces huge opportunities in the development of IT-related start-ups.

Hung stressed that Vietnam’s achievements in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic have turned the country into a destination for investors and businesses across the globe.

Vietnamese start-ups will flourish if they are able to seize opportunities, Hung said.

However, he noted the number of engineers and high-quality tech products in Vietnam remains modest, adding that this is a good chance for young overseas Vietnamese students who wish to return to the homeland to set up their career.

Echoing Hung, CEO of Ohmnilabs Company Vu Duy Thuc pointed out that potential Vietnamese start-ups are in education, health care, and e-commerce.

Vietnamese start-ups are advised to have an open innovation mindset to partner with universities, research institutions, and entrepreneurs and seek new technology solutions, Thuc noted.

With the theme "Do Not Just Start A Business - Let's Solve A Problem", Hack4Growth Kick-off 2021 pointed out the importance of start-ups to solve issues in society and discussed the current status of the innovation sector in Vietnam in 2021.
