In 2018, Hanoi saved 385 million kWh, approximately 2.15% of commercial electricity, equivalent to VND735.35 billion (US$31.62 million).
Hanoi is one of the leading localities nationwide in saving energy, making an important contribution to achieving Vietnam’s targets of energy efficiency, the government portal quoted Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Hai as saying.
Hai added that in 2018, the Energy Efficiency Program launched by the city’s People Committee achieved positive results. In 2018, by implementing the program, Hanoi saved 385 million kWh, approximately 2.15% of commercial electricity, equivalent to VND735.35 billion (US$31.62 million).
Notably, Hanoi supported 61 facilities to perform energy audit, six facilities to build an energy management system, tools and models for automatic calculation of energy efficiency index for 11 facilities, pilot energy efficiency simulation for five buildings.
Bui Huy Quang from the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that in order to use energy economically and effectively, in the coming time, it is necessary to inspect units over-consuming energy and require them to comply with energy saving regulations.
