Hanoi and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen cooperation for promoting the Capital's development

On August 18 evening, Hanoi People`s Committee leaders held a meeting with oversea Heads of the Vietnam diplomatic missions on Foreign Affairs attending the 18th National Conference on Foreign Affairs and the 29th Conference on Diplomacy.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung announced that the City has completed the construction plans of socio-economic development for the period of 2016-2020, the results of socio-economic development in first 7 months of 2016. Of which, revenue has reached over 105 trillion, to ensure the fulfillment of the annual plan; attracting foreign investment (FDI), reaching $2.1 billion, 2 times more than the same period of 2015 and has fulfilled the yearly plan; it is expected that 2017 will attract more than 2.5 to $3 billion FDI.

These projects will focus on key areas such as high technology, infrastructure and so on. The City continues with a variety of mechanisms, policies to attract more FDI and overcome difficulties, expanded FDI projects has been increased hundreds of millions of dollars.

Hanoi is striving to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the coming time, the proportion reached 65%; at the mean time centralizing on processing the environment, improving the quality of living environment, building 20-25 new parks, including large-scale parks with international standards; planting millions of trees in order to change the face of the Capital.

To accomplish this goal, the City has considered the role of foreign economic relations very important. Therefore, it is desired that Ambassadors, Consul Generals and Heads of the Vietnam representative offices abroad will help and connect Hanoi with the companies and the business worldwide, so as to attract more investment funds, to contribute to the development of the country and the Capital.

Expressing gratitute to Hanoi's leaders for the meaningful meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son appreciated Hanoi's success in recent years and expressed support for the socio-economic development plan for the Capital.

Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese Representatives and Heads of diplomatic missions abroad are always ready to work with foreign partners to attract more funds contributing to the development of the Capital and the country.
