A promotion conference on cooperation, investment, trade and tourism between the Mekong Delta with Hanoi city and localities in the north was organised in Hanoi on May 26.
Attending the conference were Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung; Chairman of People's Committee of Hau Giang province Lu Van Hung; Secretary of Hau Giang provincial Party Committee Tran Cong Chanh; Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Southwest region Nguyen Quoc Viet and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Northwest Hoang Thi Hanh.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Southwest Nguyen Quoc Viet said, the conference is a practical and significant activity to promote investment, trade and tourism cooperation opportunities between the Mekong Delta with the capital of Hanoi and localities across the country.
The Mekong Delta consists of 13 provinces, whose agriculture and fisheries production contributed more than 90% of rice, 70% of fruit and 60% of seafood of the national export.
In the recent years, the city has held many activities for trade promotion, introduction and marketing of products from the Mekong Delta provinces.
In 2015, Hanoi city suppported the Mekong Delta consuming 105 tons of onion and continue to help its consumption in the coming time.
In additon, the capital also hosted a Vietnam regional specialty fair in 2015 with the participation of the majority of enterprises producing specialty items from provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, bringing the large amounts of fruits, agricultural products, seafood to Hanoi's consumers.
In the agricultural sector, Hanoi city signed the records of agricultural development cooperation and agricultural trade promotion with the provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long.
About 100 safe agricultural products of the Mekong Delta have been sold at Hanoi's market and their qualities have been highly appreciated by Hanoians.
Hanoi and the Mekong Delta have signed numerous cooperation programmes in tourism to promote the sector of the two regions.
The city and the region will continue comprehensive cooperation in other fields of investment and trade.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said in the recent years, Hanoi city has actively cooperated with local authorities across the country, especially the Mekong Delta.
The Mekong Delta and Hanoi signed six important agreements to consume products of craft villages in Hanoi.
At the same time, the two regions promoted the connection of supply, two-way exchange to take the goods to the Mekong Delta's market and consume products in Hanoi.
Hanoi and the Mekong Delta also organised fairs and Green tourism Weeks to connect travelling tours between localities.
Hanoi city actively supported the Mekong Delta in the field of social security.
This conference made a best opportunity for the Mekong Delta localities and Hanoi city to meet and exchange experiences, thus boosting investment, trade and tourism cooperation closely and more efficiently.
At the conference, the cooperation in various fields has been mentioned to the delagates to introduce the potentials, call for investment as well as boost cooperation between Hanoi and the provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.
