Hanoi commits to create a favourable tourism investment environment
The Hanoi Tourism Department held a meeting with representatives of tourism organisations and businesses operating in the city on October 23.
Attending the meeting were Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen The Thao, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien.
At the event, Director of Hanoi Tourism Department Do Dinh Hong said, in the recent years, Hanoi tourism has been considered as the important sector of local economy, which has steady growth, contributing effectively to the municipal economic restructuring and growth.
In the 2010-2015 period, the number of visitors to Hanoi annually has increased over 10%. In 2014, the capital's tourism received 15.4 million domestic visitors, and 3 million international tourists, rising 2 times against to 2010.
Hanoi successfully hosted many major events, such as the National Tourism Year 2010, the 11th Conference of the Council for Promotion of Tourism in Asia, and Hanoi traditional craft villages and tourism festival, etc.
The capital has been ranked in the top tourism attractions by prestigious organizations in the region and worldwide.
These positive achivements have really contributed to building the Hanoi's image - a friendly, safe and attractive tourism city.
From 2016-2020, the municipal tourism will focus on exploiting efficiently resources for tourism development in order to make Hanoi becoming an attractive destination as well as lead tourism sector into one of key economic fields of the capital.
Hanoi will deploy synchronously its tourism development planning by 2020 and targets through 2030.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Nguyen The Thao said through the event, the city hopes to create a forum for travel businesses to exchange and make proposals with local government on tourism development.
The Chairman stressed that the city government will continue to create more transparent investment environment for business community in general, and tourism companies in particular to operate with long-term success in Hanoi.
