Hanoi enhances cooperation with Korea in medical tourism

Tourism companies in Hanoi and South Korea have enhanced cooperation to diversify tourist products for the latter’s visitors.

The Hanoitourist Travel Company (Hanoitourist) recently officially signed a partnership agreement with Vietnamese and Korean partners to launch medical tourism products for the first time in Hanoi. With the launch, Vietnamese tourists can experience Korean tourism that combines treatment from the top Korean hospitals.
The program, a collaboration between Hanoitourist, New Horizon Palliation Care Center, Dowoo Tour (Korea) and Korean top hospitals, offers not only high-quality healthcare services but is also a relaxing break at several famous attractions.

Phung Quang Thang, general director of Hanoitourist, said the living standard of Vietnamese people has become higher in recent years, leading to a high demand for better health services along with leisure travel. Therefore, this medical tourism product partly meets the requirement of tourists and also gives opportunities to travelers to access modern medical services worldwide.
Tourists will have six days in Korea to visit famous places in Seoul and Daegu such as Gyeongbok Palace, Gwanghwamun Square and Insadong -- the best shopping street in Korea for tourists.
This travel package also provides tourists with health check-up services, including blood test, eye test, electrocardiogram and X- ray.
For the past five years, Korea has always been among the top destinations of Vietnamese tourists. According to statistics, in 2015, more than 160,000 Vietnamese people visited Korea and more than 1.1 million Korean visitors came to Viet Nam. In 2016, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Korea reached over 250,000 and the number of Korean visitors to Viet Nam reached over 1.5 million.
As of July 2017, the total number of Vietnamese tourists to Korea was nearly 178,000 and Viet Nam received some 1.4 million Korean visitors.
According to the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO), Vietnam is one of Korea’s main markets in South East Asia.
Visa advantages and direct air connection are good conditions to develop the tourism of the two countries. According to KTO, together with active cooperation in the tourism industry of the two countries, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Korea and Korean visitors to Viet Nam will continue to have a considerable growth in the future.
“2017 is a successful year for Vietnam and Korean tourism. With rapid growth and the eighth ranking, Viet Nam presents huge opportunities for the Korean tourism sector,” Jung Chang Wook, director of KTO in Vietnam, said.
However, to maintain attractiveness and continue to attract Korean tourists to Vietnam, according to many experts, Vietnam should actively learn about the demands of the Korean market, creating higher-quality products that are more suitable and attractive to tourists.
