Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh expressed hope during a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro today [September 20].
At the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted the support of the local authorities for the operation of the Italian Embassy over the years.
He pointed out that Hanoi has made significant contributions to Vietnam-Italy relations, especially in culture, education, economy, and trade.
In this regard, Italy wants to contribute to cultural diversification in Hanoi, stated Alessandro, noting both cultural exchange and economic cooperation have further raised the appeal of Hanoi and Rome, promoting the image of Italy and Vietnam in the eyes of international friends.
Alessandro called for greater cooperation between the Embassy and Hanoi’s authorities in exchange and cooperation activities, proposing the establishment of twinning relations between the museums of Hanoi and Rome.
Ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023, the Italian ambassador suggested several cultural and art events to deepen the understanding between the Italian and Vietnamese people.
In addition, he expected further expansion in the partnership between Hanoi and Italian localities, as well as between businesses from the two countries.
Sharing Alessandro’s view, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh expected both cities to take advantage of their respective strength and contribute to bilateral relations.
