Hanoi Farmers' Association embraces digital farming and sustainability

The association aims to innovate its approach and strengthen the connection between agricultural production and sales.

The Hanoi Farmers’ Association will continue its initiatives to boost agriculture and rural development in 2025, focusing on the theme “Digital Farmers - Clean Agriculture - Green Environment,” said Le Hong Son, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, at the association’s meeting on January 8.

At the conference to review the activities of the Farmers' Association and the agricultural movement in 2024, Son urged the association to support its members' active participation in production and economic development, as well as their contribution to the successful implementation of the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2021-2025.

He directed the association to reorganize production, strengthen value chain linkages, and integrate production with the processing and consumption of agricultural products. This should be based on diverse models of cooperation among households, cooperative organizations and enterprises, with enterprises at the center, to increase production efficiency and ensure the balanced interests of all stakeholders.

The association aims to build on its previous successes, innovate its operating methods and strengthen the links between agricultural production and sales, thereby contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the capital, said the vice chairman.

Looking ahead to 2025, the association plans to enroll over 9,000 new members, establish 210 new vocational farmer groups, and create 18 new occupational farmer chapters. It will encourage 229,230 households to register for business excellence at four levels, with a target of more than 114,600 households achieving this status by the end of the year. In addition, it will motivate nearly 57,100 members to join cooperatives and cooperative groups.

The association will work directly and collectively to lift 523 near-poor households among its members out of poverty. In addition, various levels of the association will coordinate training and skill development for 9,600 members and rural workers.

Agricultural development amid challenges

Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council presents commendation certificates to 10 individuals for their outstanding achievements in implementing Resolution No. 81.

At the event, the Hanoi Farmers’ Association reported that despite numerous challenges from climate change and natural disasters, Hanoi agriculture has stabilized thanks to supportive policies and the collective determination of the political system and the people. At present, agricultural growth in the capital is over 2.47%.

Hanoi has successfully developed 29 production chains that integrate the harvesting, processing and marketing of agricultural products. These chains have transformed the agricultural sector, increased value addition, and promoted sustainable development in line with international economic integration.

The program for building new rural areas, as well as advanced and role-model rural areas, continues to receive significant investment and strong leadership.  All 18 districts, towns and 382 communes have achieved new rural standards. In addition, 188 communes have attained advanced rural standards, while 76 have become model rural areas.

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program was also aggressively implemented, resulting in the recognition of 2,711 products.

At the event, three organizations received awards from the Central Vietnam Farmers' Association. Ten organizations and individuals were commended by the Hanoi People's Committee. Nineteen organizations and individuals were honored, and nineteen exemplary agricultural cooperatives for 2024  received commendations.
