On 23rd June, The 7th General Assembly of Hanoi Union of Science and Technology Association (HUSTA), tenure 2015 – 2020 took place in Ha Noi. Not only seeing the presence of numerous scientists, member association representatives; the event also received the attendance of Ha Noi leaders as well as delegates from related ministries, departments, institutions.
Evaluating the performance in tenure 2009 – 2014, Dr. Tran Danh Loi, Vice President of HUSTA said, the organization had contributed effectively to gather union, uphold the role of intellectual line – up, enhance ideology political missions as well as get involved in social activities.
With national issue such as China illegally setting Haiyang Shiyou 981 oil rig to Vietnam waters, the exclusive economic zone of Vietnam; HUSTA held meetings, talks to protest this action, simultaneously; express the faith in national solutions to demand China withdraw its oil rig from Vietnam maritime zones. In terms of social activities, HUSTA carried out untold give away, wounded and martyr gratefulness programs..., canvassed members collect donation for people in flooded, disaster area. HUSTA activities’ got beyond the Vietnam border when the organization campaigned for donation for Japanese struggling with earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
Especially, HUSTA published the “Vietnam Legend” with 10 great sets of book memorizing more than 10 billion martyr Heroes. This work set then received Vietnam Record, Asia Record degrees and got praised by World Record University (WRC) for worldwide values in humanity, honoring traditional worth of Vietnamese braveness, scarification and wisdom in victory reaching path.
According to Vice President Tran Danh Loi, during the past tenure, HUSTA admitted one more foundation association and established 14 new science and technology units. Until now, HUSTA owns 22 Science and technology Institutes, Centers and Clubs. With 38 member associations and more than 50.000 members, the association witnesses the attendance of leading scientists in various science and technology fields.
During 5 years in operation, members as well as member states implemented numerous State – level topics, hundreds of Ministry-level and thousand of grassroots level ones, adopting various advances of science and technology in manufacture and life.
In additional, HUSTA also held programs to communicate and disseminate technology - science knowledge; serving manufacture, life; furthermore, actively looked after community health through acupuncture or school mental advisory actions.
Looking forward to tenure 2015 – 2020, HUSTA prioritizes fostering political, ideology mission, promoting the role of intellectual forces in City and Nation building career. Along with that is to reinforce specialize activities, propaganda knowledge of society, science, technology and education.

The Chairman brought some issues for Generally Assembly attendants to figure out operation guideline in the next period: Firstly, to be fully aware and follow effectively the Instruction 42 CT of Political Bureau, Resolution 27 of Central Committee and Instruction 22 CT of Hanoi Party Committee on building intellectual line – up during the period of boosting Industrialization – Modernization and fostering leadership of Party levels, state administration, society attendance to science and technology career. Secondly, to stick closely to political mission of Hanoi, intensify HUSTA activity concentrate on: inform; propaganda; disseminate knowledge of science, technology; advise, critic and monitor society; speed up research, application and transfer technology on economy, culture, society; especially develop faster in intellectual economy, high technology industry, high quality service, ecological agriculture, construction plan, city develop management, new rural construction... Thirdly, HUSTA need to boost both domestic and foreign cooperation, actively attending in Hanoi operation. The Chairman affirmed, along with completing policy mechanism, facilitating proficient scientists, experts have chances to devote; Citizen leaders would be willing to listen, acquire ideas from ones proposing good measure, effective project and apply to Hanoi development career.
General Assembly elected the executive committee including 65 members. In detail, Professor Dr. Vu Hoan was re-elected as President of Hanoi Union of Science and Technology Association in 7th tenure (2015 – 2020); besides, Deputy Professor Dr. Bui Thi An, Dr. Tran Danh Loi (doubles as General Secretary) and Dr. Le Xuan Rao were voted Vice President.
