Hanoi will focus on developing high-tech agriculture in order to raise its value of agricultural production to VND231 million per ha by 2015..
Director of Hanoi’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Chu Phu My said since 2008 the city’s agricultural production has increased cultivation areas to 310,000 ha including 200,000 ha of rice growing area.
The city now has 1.4 million pigs, 166,000 cows and 24.5 million poultry while possessing 21,000 ha of aquaculture area with fish output of 76,000 tonnes a year.
With advantages in terms of land, consumption market and application of advanced techniques, Hanoi has increased the value of agricultural production to VND212.4 million per ha, up 65% compared with 2008.
The typical high quality rice production regions are in districts of Phu Xuyen, Thanh Oai and Chuong My; vegetable production regions are in Gia Lam and Chuong My districts; special fruit growing regions in Quoc Oai and Hoai Duc districts; concentrated aquaculture regions in Thanh Tri, Ung Hoa, My Duc and Ba Vi.
According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Huy Dang, Hanoi has been deployed many new mechanisms and policies to attract investment in high-tech agriculture in cultivation, animal husbandry and aquaculture.
Organisations and individuals who invest in high-tech agriculture models will enjoy land preferential treatment, support from the state fund to build technical infrastructure and soft interest rate loans.
